Biography:
Dr. Karim holds a B.Sc. degree from UET
Lahore and a doctorate from Ohio State University
(OSU). Before joining LUMS in 2002, Dr.
Karim worked as a graduate research associate
and lab manager in the Knowledge Engineering
Lab at OSU. He is an active multidisciplinary
researcher with a focus on computational
intelligence (specifically, data mining
and machine learning) and its applications
in the sciences and engineering. His work
has appeared in over 30 research publications
including two books, the most recent of
which was published by John Wiley and Sons
in 2005. He has participated in the program/technical
committees of several journals and conferences.
At LUMS, he has been instrumental in strengthening
the graduate program in data mining and
machine learning, and in setting up a high
performance computing resource for computationally
intensive applications.
