About the test

The SSE Admissions Test will be held simultaneously on February 12, 2011 across the following six cities in Pakistan:
  Islamabad
  Karachi
  Lahore
  Multan
  Peshawar
  Quetta


For domestic students the SSE Admissions Test is mandatory; SATs are optional. The registration fee for the test is Rs 1000. No candidate without a registration slip will be allowed to take the test. Please note that only candidates with complete applications will be notified. The exact locations, test timings, and other information will be communicated to applicants before the test.

 

Guidelines for the SSE Admissions Test are as follows

   
  No calculators will be allowed.
  The test consists of five (5) sections. One section is compulsory. From the remaining four Subject sections you may attempt any three of your choice. If you attempt all four, the best three will be counted towards your final score
   
Structure of the Test

Compulsory Section -
Basic Mathematics
   
  Time: 30 minutes
  Difficulty level: O 'Level/Matriculation
  Question Type: Multiple choice
  Preparation: Any SAT preparation book
   
Subject Sections - Advanced Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics
   
  Time: 45 minutes for each section  
  Difficulty Level: A 'Levels/F.Sc./SAT II (the questions will be "unseen", that is, they will not be taken from past A 'Levels/F.Sc. exams or standard textbooks; they will search for a deep understanding and good recall of fundamental principles)  
  Question Type: Multiple choice questions in each section  
  Preparation: Self-study, good science textbooks, online instruction, tutoring, study groups… solve lots of practice problems that cover the test curriculum!
   
Foreign applicants, who cannot make it to the SSE Admissions Test, are required to take the SAT Reasoning Test, and three out of the following four SAT II Subject Tests latest by January 22, 2011.

  Chemistry
  Mathematics II-C
  Physics

The college code for reporting SAT scores to LUMS is 0513. Please ensure that you list LUMS as a school to receive your scores when you take the test. It takes at least 4 to 6 weeks for us to receive SAT scores. Also please note it is important that you register for tests with exactly the same name as you have indicated on your application. Your record and test scores will not be linked in our system if the names do not match. You can get more information about the SAT tests and register online at www.collegeboard.com

Domestic students who have taken or are planning to take the SAT I and/or SAT II subject tests are encouraged to submit a copy of their SAT score reports as part of their admission application. The copy of the scores should be sent along with all other supporting documents OR reported directly from College Board (SAT code for reporting scores to LUMS is 0513).
